The function of the compression ring is to create an initial compression amount for the V-shaped sealing ring, allowing it to fully contact the sealed surface and adjust the compression amount of the V-shaped sealing ring.
In the free state, the outer diameter of the lip of the V-shaped ring is larger than the inner diameter of the packing chamber, and the inner diameter of the lip is smaller than the outer diameter of the piston rod. In this way, there will be some deformation after assembly. Due to the action of the support ring, this deformation only occurs at the tip of the lip and generates pressure at its contact area. Even without applying a compressive force, the lip can seal off a certain amount of internal pressure. Because the lips have a "self sealing" effect, when the working pressure of the medium increases, the lip tip changes the contact shape and increases the contact stress. The lip is more tightly attached to the sealed surface, achieving a sealing effect. As the medium pressure increases, the contact stress correspondingly increases.
